Time to Check Sprinklers
Before using your sprinklers this spring, check to make sure everything is working properly. Broken sprinkler heads, watering the road, and poor spray distribution wastes water and can be easily fixed. First, run the sprinklers to check for problems (here’s how). Next, fix the issues with these do-it-yourself videos. Need help? Schedule a free irrigation check-up!

Soil and Water Stewardship Week
Upper Trinity Conservation Trust is recognizing Soil and Water Stewardship Week in Texas from April 27 through May 4. The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board has set this year’s theme to “Home is Where the Habitat is”, highlighting the vital role that native habitats serve, such as sustaining wildlife, clean air and water, food production and recreation. Conservation easements help landowners protect their land and family heritage for future generations! Learn how you can partner with and support the Trust!

School Outreach and Education
Recently, 615 total students from Lewisville High School, Flower Mound High School, Donald Elementary (Flower Mound) and Medlin Middle School (Trophy Club) participated in educational demonstrations on Water Conservation and Watershed Protection. Using UTRWD’s new stream trailer and watershed demonstration board, the students learned about their day-to-day impact on water quality, and the importance of protecting our water sources. If you’re a teacher interested in a tour or a demonstration, please visit our Teacher Resources webpage to learn more.

Medicine Takeback Day
Don’t flush unwanted medicines down the toilet or throw in the trash! Medicines can pollute nearby water sources and harm fish and other aquatic life. Properly dispose of these items at a drop-off location near you on Takeback Day on April 26th or anytime at your police department or local pharmacies.
